Frequently Asked Questions

What level of qualification should I do?

The level of qualification will depend on your current role and the amount of experience you have. If you want to train for a qualification higher than your current work role you must ensure that you employer agrees to give you the level of experience needed. For more information view our learners section.

How many of my staff should I get First Aid trained?

The current Early Years Foundation Stage requirements are that one member of staff on the premises or on an outing should hold an appropriate First Aid certificate, specific to children. As a setting you are responsible for assessing the risk and should train your staff in accordance to your settings needs.

How long does it take to complete an NVQ and when can I start?

The answer to this question varies depending on the candidate's experience and motivation and the opportunities at the setting. An NVQ is a flexible way of learning and a variety of methods can be used to gather a portfolio of evidence. Our assessors will match your pace but will also be there to support you if you need a little extra help. Our NVQ programme is 'roll on, roll off' so you are able to start at any time.

How much will a NVQ cost?

Please contact us to confirm which funding you are eligible for. We have access to a wide variety of funding sources and will be happy to discuss this on an individual basis.

I can't see the course I am looking for. Do you do other training?

Yes, we understand that sometimes specific training is needed and we are able to put together appropriate packages/workshops for settings. Our managers are experienced in delivering training across the private, public and voluntary sectors and have written several courses on a wide range of subjects. Please contact us with your needs and we will be happy to help.

 Will I get a certificate?

All participants will recieve a 'Certificate of Attendance'. Once our verifiers are satisfied that you meet the awarding bodys' requirements for accredited training and qualifications you will receive a certificate as evidence that you have passed.
I think I will struggle to write alot of written work as I have not done much since leaving school. Will this stop me getting a qualification?

No. Our assessors and trainers are experienced and qualified as adult tutors as well as holding qualifications in the subject they teach. We will have a solution and an appropriate assessing method for you. Please let us know if you are worried before you start a course or sometime during a course and we will be happy to discuss all of the options with you. We also have good links with Adult and Community Learning centres and may be able to support you to take a literacy or numeracy course before or alongside training with us.

I am not a childcare setting, but I am a small business. Can we access your training?

Yes. Some training that we deliver is suitable for all small businesses or voluntary (committee run) groups, as needs can be very similar. Please email us to discuss your needs.
Can you come to our place of work and train all of our staff?

Yes. We would be happy to visit a business and train a group of people, this ensures consistency for your team. We also offer group discounts on training and reduced training costs if you provide a venue. Please email us for more information or to discuss your needs.
