Paediatric First Aid
Who this course is for: All practitioners new to First Aid or for those wanting to update their skills.
Course aims: The course gives a systematic way of dealing with situations both within and outside of the setting. It uses practical scenarios to reinforce the learning on the course.
Course Content:
- Adult Visitors
- Infants under a year
- Children over a year
- Minor illness and injury
- Major illness and injury
- Urban and further from help scenarios
Topics include Vital signs, Accident Procedure, Breathing and CPR, Choking, Bleeding, Other Damage, Suddenly Unwell and Illnesses.
The content meets the guidelines in the Early Years Foundation Stage and provides information on the required paperwork and policies, in this area.
Assessment: continuous over the 12 hours through a variety of methods including:
- Tutor Observation
- Peer Assessment
- Protocol Sheets
- Multiple Choice Questionnaire
Other information: Certification is given by Immediate Temporary Care, who are monitored by the Health and Safety Executive.
Students must attend the full 12 hours to receive a certificate of attendance and must meet the course requirements to receive a course certificate.
As this is a practical course, students are advised to wear comfortable clothes and shoes to enable them to move around more easily.
