Paediatric First Aid
Who this course is for: Anyone new to First Aid or for those wanting to update their skills.
Course aims: The course gives a systematic way of dealing with situations both within and outside of the setting. It uses practical scenarios to reinforce the learning on the course.
Course Content:
- Adult Visitors
- Infants under a year
- Children over a year
- Minor illness and injury
- Major illness and injury
- Urban and further from help scenarios
Topics include Vital signs, Accident Procedure, Breathing and CPR, Choking, Bleeding, Other Damage, Suddenly Unwell and Illnesses.
Assessment: continuous over the 12 hours through a variety of methods including:
- Tutor Observation
- Peer Assessment
- Protocol Sheets
- Multiple Choice Questionnaire
Other information: Certification is given by Immediate Temporary Care, who are monitored by the Health and Safety Executive.
Students must attend the full 12 hours to receive a certificate of attendance and must meet the course requirements to receive a course certificate.
As this is a practical course students are advised to wear comfortable clothes and shoes to enable them to move around more easily.
