Play
What is Play? This four hour short course examines some of the theories of play and why play is importnat for children. It can be run as two 2 hour workshops or one 4 hour workshop. The first two hours focus on developing our understanding of play and the second two hours are practical play sessions. The workshops can be themed for early years children, school age children or a mix. The content includes play theories, the value of play, intervention, the adult role and play types or schemas.
Play in the Home workshops are an opportunity for parents to explore play opportunities that can be found at home, without the use of toys or specific equipment. These ideas are low cost and provide both adults and children with hours of fun and learning. The workshops run with adults/parents and children playing together. Workshops can be themed e.g. Play in the Kitchen or Play in the Garden or they can be general.
